With BaseCamp and a BirdsEye Satellite Imagery subscription, you can transfer an unlimited amount of satellite images to your outdoor or fitness device and seamlessly integrate those images into your maps to get a true representation of your surroundings. It makes it easy to scout campsites, sources of water, potential hazards and more. If you prefer raster topographic maps, you can also download BirdsEye Select maps and pay only for the data you download.

Simply unpack a mapsource update (see links above), run MAIN.msi and then rename mapsource.exe to something else. e.g. mapsource_6.13.6.exe and then copy it into your main Garmin Mapsource installation folder (usually c:/garmin). Now you can decide which of the two versions you want to use.
Here are maps in Garmin image file format people have created from OSM data. Sites are listed by continent, then by country alphabetically, then by suspected usefulness (eg. sites which cover a whole continent and are updated regularly are listed first.) Maps offered worldwide or for a continent are often offering country downloads - hence they are only listed once and not for each region again. As OpenStreetMap is changing fast - only maps updated during the last 6 month should be listed. Permanently Dead links - please remove the entry.
BaseCamp is software from Garmin for viewing maps, waypoints, routes and tracks, and transferring them to or from a Garmin GPS device. It is available to download free of charge for Windows or Mac OS X.
As standard, the BaseCamp download includes a not very detailed global basemap. BaseCamp uses the same maps as MapSource, so any OSM maps installed in MapSource will also be installed in BaseCamp. It can also display maps stored on a GPS device or memory card.
If you don't want to convert the maps, I converted the most popular openmtbmaps / velomaps ready to be used with Basecamp or Roadtrip in gmap format for Mac OSx. Simply look at the bottom of the download page for them (only available to donators)
The trick is to download and install Garmin Training Center Software, which comes with a PC Basemap. The most important thing is that the Training Center software is free, and is available for free download for both Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
Your freshly baked copy of QGIS is downloading. QGIS is free of charge, and will always be free of charge if downloaded from QGIS.org. If you can afford to support the project and people making this software, please consider making a small donation to support our efforts. Whether you choose to donate or not, we hope that you enjoy using our labour of love and encourage you to share and spread your downloaded copy far and wide so that others may enjoy it too. Our very best regards!

When you use JaVaWa GMTK to transfer maps to a new PC it is higly recommended to do this before installing MapSource. The downloadable version of MapSource is an update version, that refuses to install when no older version exists. JaVaWa GMTK prepares, when necessary, automatically your PC so that MapSource will install properly.
A site like the Worldwide routable Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap is ideal to generate useable maps for your Garmin (and MapSource or BaseCamp). The major drawback is that when you download and install a second map from this site, you will lose the first one. 2ff7e9595c
